What is lyocell?

Lyocell is a strong and silky-smooth fibre made of cellulose from wood pulp. The soft lyocell fibre is good at absorbing moisture while feeling cool against the skin. That’s why we like to use it for bed linens and as a filling in pillows and duvets to give you a good night's sleep. And just as with any other wood raw material, we strive to use it as smartly and efficiently as possible to avoid waste.

Environment

IKEA has banned the use of chlorine bleaching agents in the production of textiles and paper products due to the negative impact on the environment. IKEA has strict requirements for the use of phthalates in all our products, and we have totally banned them in children’s and food-contact products. Since 1996 IKEA has banned harmful dyestuffs, e.g. azo dyes, in textile and leather production. By using recycled polyester in this product, we consume less new raw materials and lower our environmental impact while existing materials get new life. The cotton in this product is grown with less water, less chemical fertilizers and less chemical pesticides, while increasing profit margins for the farmers. That way, we lower our environmental impact.
