IKEA Blue Bag Fund

Blue Bag Fund Program - store initiaves

IKEA has always been committed to creating a green and sustainable lifestyle. To achieve this goal, we have been launching various charity projects to promote the healthy development of society. Since the “Blue Bag Fund Program” launched in 2021, IKEA has donated $5 TWD for every blue FRAKTA shopping bag in size M or L purchased by consumers to support community care and promote sustainable consumption in stores.

Each store uses the foundation to launch a variety of creative projects. In addition to the Taoyuan store, which helps to renovate children’s homes, the Kaohsiung store also works with women in rural areas to refashion sofa covers. Donations from the public in the form of small bags not only support the women’s re-employment but all the funds can also be utilized for the Light Up the Villages project. Additionally, some new stores have recycled their employees’ old uniforms into pet clothes, carrier bags, etc. The Neihu store and the Christian Mustard Seed Mission work together to transform the children’s learning environment. The Taichung store called on young marine conservationists to take action to protect the ocean through interactive games. IKEA strives to fulfill its corporate responsibility and hopes these projects will bring concrete benefits to the local community.

Blue Bag Fund Program
Marine exhibitions : beach cleaning activities in the Taipei Market, in-store exhibitions of marine waste

In 2022, four stores in the Taipei Market collaborated to create the “Sea A Better Tomorrow” marine waste experience room activity. 109 IKEA employees across stores and departments joined hands to clean up the trash on the beach at Keelung Chaojing Park. Employees from each department worked together to create and build an exhibition of 285 kilograms of marine waste, showing the public the severe damage marine pollution causes to the ecological environment through installation art such as marine waste waterfalls and marine waste tunnels.

SEA A BETTER TOMORROW

These charity actions bring together the strength of IKEA employees. They will inspire more people to join the campaign to reduce waste and create a better future for marine life and the global environment. Through the exhibition brought about by four stores (Hsin Chuang Store, Neihu Store, Xindian Store, and Taipei City Shop Arena), the “Sea A Better Tomorrow” marine waste experience room, IKEA provides an immersive waste reduction experience for the public and also contributes to marine ecology conservation.

Taitung Earthquake Relief : Furniture Donation

In 2022, a series of earthquakes struck Taitung in quick succession, causing buildings to collapse and immediately throwing the lives of local victims into hardship. In collaboration with the Christian Mustard Seed Mission, IKEA provided emergency relief through the “Blue Bag Fund Program.” It took practical action to support the victims by donating a large amount of furniture, bed frames, and mattresses to the affected families in the area. IKEA’s efforts not only solved the bedding and storage needs of the victims but also brought tangible help to the victims by expressing its concern and care during this challenging and uncertain time, allowing them to feel the support and care of the community and to overcome their suffering during this difficult time.
