MÄVINN - Designer Luna Gil
“When I created the MÄVINN collection, I was inspired by my travels in Southeast Asia and the relaxed beach lifestyle I saw there. Vibrant colours and handmade details give the items an exclusive feel, but with a clear IKEA identity. Wool, cotton, jute, clay and natural fibres – the materials vary in colour and texture and offer a lively look with a genuine sense of quality. The fact that everything contributes to the livelihood of the skilled artisans is a wonderful bonus!”
The plant pot with a story behind it
Then you'll surely remember the scents, vibe and all the lovely handmade things in the colours of a rainbow. We want to evoke the same feeling with the items in the MÄVINN collection where modern design unites with traditional craftsmanship. All created and produced in collaboration with social businesses around the world that create jobs for people who need them the most. Browse and choose your favourites, just like at a local crafts market.
The objects in the MÄVINN collection are inspired by traditional Scandinavian homes where the decor is characterised by function, simplicity and natural materials. In collaboration with social businesses, the ideas have then been realised by skilled artisans who’ve given each object a unique expression. So when you choose to furnish your home with something from the collection, you are also helping to create jobs for people who need them the most. A wonderful bonus, right?
MÄVINN plant pot isn’t shy – it adorns its place and is eye-catching. Together with the strong contrast between green and natural terracotta, the tactile and vertical ridges add both a touch of freshness and rustic charm. The plant pot is made by DOI TUNG artisans from various tribal populations in the mountainous parts of northern Thailand. This way, not only do your potted plants get a boost – the production also creates a stable income for those who need it most.
